Fashion Week

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

I am taking a break from showing design options for dresses this week, in honor of Fashion Week.  I couldn’t pass up the chance to celebrate our fashion line as the world celebrates Fashion Week in New York.

This blog post is dedicated to all our 6-13 year old Shailie Fashion Designers out there — keep designing!crazycreation

For the next 4 weeks I will be showing some ideas for how Shailie works.  Each week I’ll focus on one product, and will show pics demonstrating  just a few of the options you can create from your Shailie dress kits.

We had a blast doing these photo shoots, I have to say, we were quite proud of ourselves for each dress design we created.  I’ve watched neighbors girls design for hours (literally) and it just makes me SO happy to see them enjoying such a fun toy!

This week – straight from the runway –  are our fabulous Shailie Starter dress options, (shown above) enjoy!  Obviously you can create anything, these are just some fun ideas, to get you going!

Happy Designing

Caring for Shailie Products

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Now that you have bought your amazing Shailie dress form and dress kits, here are some simple tips for keeping everything runway ready.

  • ALWAYS store dress pieces and accessories on your Shailie Closet
  • When removing pieces from your base skirt & top, always hold onto the velcro, not the fabric to avoid fabric ripping.
  • If a spill happens on your fabrics, hand wash them and hang to dry.  Due to the amount of Velcro used in our dresses, throwing them in the washing machine will cause the velcro to hook & snag your lovely dress pieces, so take care of them and wash them in the sink.
  • My daughter designed her own Shailie dress for Halloween this year and wore it trick or treating with no problems.  If you are going to wear it out & about, please  make sure your velcro is secured for all your pieces so you don’t loose any!
  • Your dress form.  Adjust your form a little smaller than your own height to make designing a cinch.
  • When moving your dress form, don’t carry it by the pole, it could slide out of the base and crack the wood.  Have an adult hold the form, and base at the same time to move it around, or remove the f0rm off the pole, and carry the base and pole to your desired location.

We have chosen the highest quality fabrics for your Shailie dresses, and they are designed to last if they are cared for properly.  Shailie is recommended for girls 6+.

Below is an example of a Shailie Closet (a closet is included with the Shailie Starter kit), and how it works.  You can fit several dresses on a closet, simply press to attach pieces to the closet and – voila!
